Results of wear tests using an alumina ball sliding against 5 wt% copper oxide doped tetragonal zirconia polycrystalline (CuO-TZP) ceramics are reported as a function of temperature up to 700 °C. The specific wear rate and friction coefficient are strongly dependent on temperature. Below a critical temperature (T < 600 °C), CuO-TZP showed a high coefficient of friction as well as a high wear rate. This was ascribed to the formation of a rough surface, caused by brittle fracture and abrasive wear, based on observations by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), laser scanning microscopy (LSM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). However, above 600 °C a self-healing layer is formed at the interface and results in low friction and wear. The mechanism of layer formation and restoration is discussed and rationalized by onset of plastic deformation caused by a reduction reaction of CuO to Cu2O at high temperatures.  相似文献

The gold standard treatment of large segmental bone defects is autologous bone transfer, which suffers from low availability and additional morbidity. Tissue engineered bone able to engraft orthotopically and a suitable animal model for pre-clinical testing are direly needed. This study aimed to evaluate engraftment of tissue-engineered bone with different prevascularization strategies in a novel segmental defect model in the rabbit humerus. Decellularized bone matrix (Tutobone) seeded with bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells was used directly orthotopically or combined with a vessel and inserted immediately (1-step) or only after six weeks of subcutaneous “incubation” (2-step). After 12 weeks, histological and radiological assessment was performed. Variable callus formation was observed. No bone formation or remodeling of the graft through TRAP positive osteoclasts could be detected. Instead, a variable amount of necrotic tissue formed. Although necrotic area correlated significantly with amount of vessels and the 2-step strategy had significantly more vessels than the 1-step strategy, no significant reduction of necrotic area was found. In conclusion, the animal model developed here represents a highly challenging situation, for which a suitable engineered bone graft with better prevascularization, better resorbability and higher osteogenicity has yet to be developed.  相似文献

Contamination of public water ways with sewage represents a serious environmental and health risk. We monitored pollution of the river Thames by enumerating the indicator organism Escherichia coli. Samples were taken from a site in central London near Waterloo Bridge in different seasons. E. coli were quantified using a membrane filtration method, and correlated with the tidal variations of the river and meteorological data on rainfall and temperature. More frequent and severe incidents of pollution occurred in the autumn. Heavy rainfall resulted in sharp peaks of E. coli contamination that implies a potential increase of numbers of pathogenic micro‐organisms. Sixty percent of all samples were found to be in excess of the accepted upper limit of pollution set by European Union (EU) legislation for bathing water. This study demonstrated that frequent sewage pollution of the Thames results in high numbers of E. coli and incidents of detectable levels of pathogenic bacteria demonstrating the need for regular monitoring of bacterial pollution.  相似文献

Guaranteeing reliable and cost-effective wind turbine drive trains requires expert insights in dynamics during operation. A combination of advanced modeling techniques and detailed measurements are suggested to realize this goal. The flexible multibody modeling technique enables the simulation of dynamic loads on all drive train components. Moreover it facilitates estimation of structural component deformation caused by dynamic loading. This paper gives a detailed overview of the assumptions made in this modeling approach. Furthermore the influence of the different structural component flexibilities is investigated in detail. To gain confidence in the models created, model validation by means of a comparison with measurements is necessary. To overcome issues concerning test repeatability experienced in field testing, test-rig testing is suggested as a valid alternative. In order to be representative, dedicated dynamic load cases, which represent specific dynamic behavior of the gearbox in a wind turbine need to be realized on the test-rig. However a highly dynamic test-rig complying with the specifications was not commercially available. Therefore Hansen developed a high dynamic test-rig with a nominal power of 13.2 MW and a peak power capacity of 16.8 MW. A back-to-back gearbox configuration was used. The complexity of controlling dynamics of the test-rig was solved by identifying dedicated load cases which represent specific wind turbine behavior. This paper describes the development process of the project consisting of four phases. During two phases a scaled set-up was used, which enabled iterative optimization of the complex interaction between the mechanical dynamics and the electrical controller of the test-rig. In the final part of the paper the two previously discussed approaches are combined, as it discusses results from the validation of simulation models using measurements performed on the 13.2 MW test-rig.  相似文献

The design and development of holonic manufacturing systems requires careful, and sometimes risky, decision making to ensure that they will successfully satisfy the demands of an ever-changing market. In this paper, the authors propose a methodology for a holonic manufacturing systems requirement analysis that is based on a virtual reality approach and aimed at assisting designers of such systems along the entire systems design and development process. Exploiting virtual reality helps the user collect valid information quickly and in a correct form by putting the user and the information support elements in direct relation with the operation of the system in a more realistic environment. A prototype software system tool is designed to realise the features outlined in each phase of the methodology. A virtual manufacturing environment for matching the physical and the information model domains is utilised to delineate the information system requirements of holonic manufacturing systems implementation. A set of rules and a knowledge base is appended to the virtual environment to remove any inconsistency that could arise between the material and the information flows during the requirement analysis.  相似文献

Influence of the chemical structure of PUR prepolymers on thermal stability   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The thermal stability of adhesives for load-bearing construction has been one of their key parameters since engineered wood products were introduced in timber construction. In the case of one-component moisture-curing polyurethane (1C PUR) adhesives, knowledge about relationships between their chemical structure and the resulting bonding properties is limited, especially under high-temperature conditions. In this study the structure-property relationships of 1C PUR prepolymers were analyzed in the temperature range from 20 to 200 °C by means of mechanical and rheological tests. NCO-terminated urethane prepolymers were prepared from systematically varied MDI and polyether mixtures. The structural parameters investigated were the urea and urethane group content, cross-link density, ethylene oxide content and the adjustment of functionality via NCO or polyether component. Bonded wood joints were tested for their tensile shear strength and polymer films were analyzed by means of DMA and DSC. The results revealed a significant influence of hard segment content and cross-link density on the thermal stability of the prepolymers. Not all parameters that affect the film properties significantly influence bonding.  相似文献

Future mobile networks are expected to be complex heterogeneous systems. On the one hand this will enable users to take advantage of a number of different access technologies. On the other hand it will seriously affect network management procedures since more extensive operations and decisions will have to be dealt with. To tackle these challenges a number of new dynamic mechanisms need to be designed. It is imperative that certain network management tasks have to be performed without human intervention to reduce the OPEX costs and achieve faster responses in different events. To achieve this goal, the introduction of self‐x functionalities, combined with cognitive mechanisms and the ability to reconfigure network entities and terminals, is required. Moreover, the introduction of a new pilot channel needs to be considered to assist the terminals in selecting the most suitable radio access technology according to their requirements. We present the functional architecture of an evolved network that was designed in the context of the EU‐funded IP project ‘E3: End‐to‐End Efficiency’. This architecture aims to enhance existing procedures usually performed in traditional operation and maintenance systems (e.g. spectrum management, network planning, configuration actions). We explain the rationale of our design and provide specific examples to illustrate the role of the different functional entities and their interfaces.
